We are building a "Fundraising Team"

Introduction -

Voluntary role: fundraiser
Time commitment: 2 days per week
Location: remote/from home

Global MapAid or simply “MapAid” is a social enterprise working with local people, to help them identify & map local solutions (hotspots) for their development, to help prevent disasters. The maps benefit policy makers, donors, non-government organisations and corporate social responsibility organisations, by focusing efforts where most needed. Additionally, some of our maps are designed for use by vulnerable people.

We were founded at Stanford University in 2003, and have registered in the USA and the UK with 40 unpaid volunteers across the world. Our Patron is Desmond Tutu.

Recently our UK team has mapped Covid-19 response including many of the good causes supporting the NHS and vulnerable people. Since the pandemic has disrupted the economy, we are now mapping youth unemployment and some solutions.

Overseas we have a partnership with Arba Minch University and George Mason University, to help develop an AI to crunch hydrogeological data for mapping shallow borehole locations, which are vital to irrigation and food supply in Africa.

Here in the UK we are now partnering with Paritas, to launch an interesting opportunity.

Vision

MapAid is in the process of setting up map social enterprises across the world, with common standards such as ethics and technical, beginning in the UK and Ethiopia. To achieve this vision, we need to raise initial funding & awareness in the West, and for that, we need to build a fundraising team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Our initial thinking is the need to form 6 sub-teams each consisting of a Campaign Manager and a Bid Writer, with the former taking overall responsibility for each sub-team.

Each of the teams will each take on one segment, listed below. Prior to starting we want the whole team to accomplish some research into the dynamics of each segment, so refinements based on good research and subsequent team buy-in, lead to realistic and achievable goals:

• Small trusts giving 10K or less
• Large trusts giving more than 10K
• Corporate Social Responsibility Departments
• High Net Worth Individuals (of a huge variety)
• Country Donors (aid agency donors)
• Crowdsource Funding

We need people who are detailed thinkers, good at writing, and are patient for the long haul.

Please note, this is an unpaid role, covering at least 2 days a week.
